Kim Ji Soo (simply known as Jisoo), is a South Korean actress, singer, and popularly known as Visual of the girl group BLACKPINK under YG Entertainment. She made her debut with Blackpink on Aug 8, 2016 at the age of 21.
In 2011, Jisoo successfully audition for YG Entertainment and became a trainee at the age of 16. In 2015, she appeared in the drama The Producers. She trained for 5 years before finally debut as member of Blackpink in 2016. From 2017 through 2018, Jisoo was the MC in Inkigayo (a South Korean music program) alongside GOT7’s Jinyoung.
Before debuting, Jisoo was already well-known due to appearing in TV shows and even featuring in the music video of Epik High's "‘스포일러(SPOILER) + 헤픈엔딩(HAPPEN ENDING)" and Hi-Suhyun's "I'm Different".

Early life
Kim Ji-soo was born on January 3, 1995, in Gunpo, Gyeonggi, South Korea. In 2011, Jisoo joined YG Entertainment through auditions as a trainee. In 2015, she made a cameo appearance in the KBS2 drama The Producers alongside label-mates 2NE1's Sandara Park and Winner's Kang Seung-yoon. In the same year Jisoo featured in several advertisements including Samsonite alongside actor Lee Min-ho, Smart Uniform, LG Electronics, and Nikon.
Career
Jisoo became a YG Entertainment trainee in August 2011, when she was 16 years old, she trained five years for her singing career.
Before she became a trainee at YG, she was known by many for her beauty. She was very popular in school because of her beautiful face and talents. She used to study at the School Of Performing Arts High School. She eventually transferred schools when her family moved to Seoul, South Korea.
In 2012, she was revealed through the “Who’s That Girl?” teaser by YG Entertainment, and it was followed with two photos in January of the next year. In August 2016, she became a member of BLACKPINK, as a lead vocalist and visualist in the group.
On August 18, 2020, YG Entertainment announced that Jisoo will be making her acting debut. She will be debuting as the lead role in the upcoming JTBC drama, Snowdrop. The drama is expected to air sometime in 2021.
On December 30, 2020, it was announced that Jisoo will be having her solo debut when the filming for her drama, Snowdrop, is finished.
On August 18, a video was posted onto JTBC Drama's YouTube channel announcing Snowdrop as part of the upcoming Drama Line-up.
In Gallup Korea's annual music poll for 2018, Jisoo was ranked the tenth most popular idol in South Korea, receiving 4.8% of the votes. In April 2019, she was ranked the 10th most followed K-pop idol on Instagram, with 12.8 million followers.
On January 2, 2023, YG announced in a press release that Jisoo will be releasing her solo album sometime this year.
Beauty, Diet, and Exercise
Jisoo has mentioned that she tends to gain weight more easily. While most Blackpink members don’t follow any specific diet, Jisoo said that it is more about portion control.
Jisoo doesn’t particularly like exercising so most of her exercise comes from dance practices. She enjoys doing flying yoga.

Her fandom name is called ‘Jisooya,’ which is shortened to ‘Sooya.’ It is the name adopted by her fan base.
