The physical album comes in 17 versions: Sequence (four individual member covers) , Scene (four individual member covers), Giant (four individual member covers), Drama, and four SMini versions.

In February 2023, during their debut concert, Synk: Hyper Line performed three unreleased songs: "Hot Air Balloon", "YOLO", and "Don't Blink". SM Entertainment announced that the group would release their fourth EP titled Drama on November 10. Teaser videos and a promotional schedule were released leading up to the release. The EP and the music video for the title track "Drama" were both released on November 10.

According to SM Entertainment, Drama will feature Aespa's evolving personalities and fresh music. The show will also continue the narrative thread from previous events, where the group is breaking free from trauma with 'Synk Out' and 'Hallucination Quest' in the SMCU's storyline for Aespa.

The standard edition of Drama includes six tracks of various genres like hip hop, dance, and acoustic pop. The album aims to bring a new chapter to the group's lore through unique music and visuals. The lead single "Drama" is a hip-hop and dance song with confident lyrics about starting a story with Aespa. The second track "Trick or Trick" is a hypnotic dance song with heavy bass. The third track "Don't Blink" is a country-like song showcasing Aespa's vocals. The fourth track "Hot Air Balloon" depicts a journey with someone special. Lastly, the fifth track "YOLO" is a pop-punk song with a mix of pop and metal guitar.

The sixth track "You" is a heartfelt song dedicated to the group's fans. It is an up-tempo dance song with rhythmic percussion sound. The lyrics encourage letting go of the past and focusing on more valuable things in life. This track is featured in the digital edition along with the group's English single "Better Things".

The EP "Drama" debuted at number three on the South Korean Circle Album Chart and at number 27 on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums. It also debuted at number 11 on the Top Download Albums chart and the Oricon Albums Chart in Japan.

The EP "Drama" debuted at number 33 on the Billboard 200 and number two on the Billboard World Albums chart in the United States. In the United Kingdom, it debuted at number ten on the OCC's UK Album Downloads Chart, number 33 on the UK Albums Sales chart, and number 45 on the UK Physical Albums chart. In Australia, it debuted at number four on the ARIA Top 20 Hitseekers Albums Chart. In France, it debuted at number 30 on SNEP's Top Albums chart. In Hungary, it debuted at number 19 on the MAHASZ Top Albums 40 Chart.

The EP debuted at number 28 on Poland's OLiS chart, number 43 on Scotland's Scottish Albums Chart, and number 79 on Spain's PROMUSICAE Top 100 Albums Chart.
